Math Tutor Volunteer

Have fun and make positive impacts on the lives of children by joining Making Connections! As a tutor, your interest and encouragement are keys to motivating these students to learn.  We are looking for high school students and adults who have an interest in helping kids, have a background in education and/or just want to help some deserving individuals with special needs.  We always have a certified teacher at every session!  We ask you to make a commitment of tutoring a 40-minute session for at least a season. Our goal is to match you with the same student from week to week. We certainly understand if you are unable to tutor occasionally. High school students will receive community-learning credit.  Making Connections tutoring sessions are held at the DSA of NWI office at 2906 Highway Avenue in Highland, IN.  Each session is 40 minutes of one-on-one tutoring.

Making Connections Math Program is geared to Touch Point Math starting with recognizing numbers, moving to one-on-one correspondence and then working on addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and money skills.  The program also incorporates math games and IPAD apps.
